This is a handmade Mexican Oaxaca blackware rustic ceramic pitcher, produced in the mid-20th century. These pitchers are characterized by their dark, often burnished finish achieved through a one-of-a-kind firing process. The technique involves using a fine-grained clay body fired in a cow-dung fire, and sometimes specific areas are burnished to create a black-on-black surface ornamentation. While they can be used for various purposes, they are also valued for their decorative qualities. The pitcher is signed and in great condition.
