The only other photo I found of one was an Ebay listing that's no longer posted that labeled it as Italian or German Medieval military parade shield. I'm not sure exactly what it is but it's beautiful. Very old. Metal with etched design and decorated with gold tone lion's heads. magnificent condition. Clearly very old if you see photos.
